There is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast.

But at least that sort of alarm clock doubles as a fur-covered, musical hot water bottle that doesn't goo cold in the middle of the night, and soft little paws patting your face are a gentler awakening than a bell or buzzer.

Cats are indeed subtle - one of our cats was inadvertently locked in the bedroom when we went away for the weekend, poor puss. He expressed his displeasure by pooping in the middle of the bed.

Another cat I had would simply turn his back on me when I annoyed him [or sat in his chair] and refuse to talk. All my apologies would be in vain until he deemed that enough time had elapsed or a plate of sardines appeared under his nose - whichever came first.

I have a whole bundle of short stories under the collective heading of Throstle Tales (I live in a village called Swallow, so you can probably see where I am coming from) but I don't think I dare let some of them ever see the light of day, but what a relief to write them!

Get a copy at once! It's so cheering. A friend tell me that Eartha Kitt is still singing & did the voice for a recent Disney film; she entirely won my friend's 14 year old daughter over!

It's ages since I read "Archie and Mehitabel", and now I can't find my copy. Maybe it's my sister's copy and she took it with her when she got married in 1980. I must ask.

Saintly forbearance I can do and try to do, but it does get very exhausting! There are times when it's just not possible to keep it up.

I do have several excellent friends, though, who have been with me through numerous ups and downs and crises, and they are the ones I rely on to tell me when I'm moaning too much. And vice versa!

That was it! I bet my poor mother had wishd she'd know this tip - she'd have thrust a mouse down each of our throats - three of us had whooping cough together as children. All we did was cough & vomit and all the poor woman did was clean up after us.

Never having tasted mouse, I couldn't possbly comment, and Albert has caught mice from time to time but has never shown any inclination to eat them.

My cat has just vomited asparagus fern all over the floor. He obviously thinks that he likes asparagus, but it doesn't like him. He knows that he doesn't really care for fish. I, on the other hand, love both fish and asparagus.

I find that half the time when I try to use the 'new editor' when I post my blogs that it corrupts or loses what I have typed, so I just stick to the font set for my chosen style of blog with just a few bold, italics and underlinings.

When I'm using Word it's entirely different, although some of my favourite fancy fonts vanish with each change of computer and more which seem to be hardly distinguishable from Times New Roman and Arial appear.

Many thanks for the invite to join your list of friends. Incidentally, I support Aldershot because I was dragged along there as a kid and then discovered it's a bit like being in a lobster cage - once you're in, you can't get out.
